Throughout the Baja Garden there is a spectacular view of the East African enclosure. The Zoo and Wild Animal Park have more plant species than animal species.

Frank Escobedo, a senior horticulturist at the Wild Animal Park, tells of the dangers of having eucalyptus trees. They have weak trunks and bark, which can cause fractures on the tree and lead to falling branches.

The cycad is a prehistoric conifer that is related to the pine tree, hence the large cones in the center. Mr. Escobedo told us of his passion for growing these huge trees in his backyard.
