Mike Chase with elephants

Save Elephants in Africa

Take action and help the San Diego Zoo protect nearly half of Africa’s elephants by supporting Project Elephant Footprint! Leading the effort is world-renowned elephant ecologist Dr. Mike Chase, who has discovered the world’s largest and longest elephant migration in Botswana and the surrounding region. Our annual goal of $250,000 will support Dr. Chase’s research, advocacy and conservation efforts, and will truly make a difference in the lives of these elephants. Learn more…

Meet the Elephants

Currently 8 elephants are being tracked by Dr. Chase and our team in a 50,000-square-mile study area so we can gain insight into their migration patterns. All elephants have amazing stories and we wanted to share the stories of 3 of those elephants. Learn More...
