Day 1~Thursday~February 11
San Diego/En Route
Your journey begins this morning as you board your flight in San Diego for your overnight flight to Delhi via Newark or Chicago.
Day 2~Friday~February 12
Delhi
This evening you arrive in Delhi, where you are met and escorted to your home for the next two nights, the Taj Palace Hotel.
Day 3~Saturday~February 13
Delhi
Spend today acclimating yourself to your new time zone and exploring one of the most fascinating cities in the world. We will venture off to “New” Delhi. Visit Humayun’s Tomb, drive along the ceremonial avenue, Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate, Parliament House, and the President’s residence before arriving back to the Diplomatic Enclave and your hotel where the rest of the day is at leisure.
Days 4/5/6~Sunday/Monday/Tuesday ~February 14/15/16
Guwahati/Kaziranga National Park
This morning fly to Guwahati where you will have about a five-hour drive to the land of the two-ton great Indian one-horned rhino. Spend your days viewing the wildlife by elephant back and in an open jeep.
Day 7~Wednesday~February 17
Guwahati/Nagpur
Drive back to Guwahati for your flight to Nagpur via Mumbai. Upon arrival, you are transferred to your hotel for the night.
Days 8/9/10~Thursday/Friday/Saturday ~February 18/19/20
Kanha National Park
Drive to Kanha National Park and its lush sal and bamboo forests, grassy meadows, and ravines, which provided inspiration to Rudyard Kipling’s famous novel The Jungle Book. Activities over the next two days will mainly consist of jungle safaris, conducted in 4x4 vehicles, which are open from all sides to give you a panoramic, unobstructed view of the landscape and every bird or animal that may just sneak into the grasses. If a tiger is sighted by the mahouts in the morning, tiger safaris on elephant back are included. Nature walks can also be arranged as well as visits to the local villages. Kanha Jungle Lodge is just a short distance from Kanha National Park at the less-frequented Mukki entrance gate.
Days 11/12/13~Sunday/Monday/Tuesday ~February 21/22/23
Bandhavgarh National Park
Drive to Bandhavgarh, a wildlife retreat where history and nature meet. Like Kanha, jungle safaris are conducted by jeep, and tiger viewings on elephant back are included if the tiger is sighted by the mahouts. On one of the days, you’ll also climb up to the Bandhavgarh Fort for a breathtaking bird's-eye view of the park. Rustic ambience is the main attraction of the Bandhavgarh Jungle Lodge, which is themed after a typical Indian village.
Day 14~Wednesday~February 24
Khajuraho
Drive to Khajuraho, situated in the northernmost part of Madhya Pradesh. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and then embark on a tour of the Eastern group of Temples.
Day 15~Thursday~February 25
Western Temples/Delhi
This morning tour the Western group of Temples, with the most significant of them being the Kandariya Mahadev Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. After lunch, board your flight back to Delhi, where you check into your day room at the RADISSON HOTEL. Following your farewell dinner, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
Day 16~Friday~February 26
San Diego
This morning finds you home with incredible memories of spectacular wildlife, ancient ruins, and incredible people.
